Inmate under investigation after posting selfies on Facebook from prison

An inmate didn't let his handcuffs stop him from posting selfies to his Facebook page while he was in custody.

Shane Holbrook, 27, of Huntington, West Virginia, posted several photographs of himself in the jail transport van from Cabell County Courthouse to the state's Western Regional Jail with the caption: 'Go hard all day.'
Holbrook, who has an extensive criminal history, was charged with first-degree robbery and malicious wounding after he shot a man while holding up a vehicle at gunpoint in February.

Holbrook said he wanted to reassure his family that he was doing well, and posted three selfies with the captions, 'On the van,' 'Go hard all day', and 'Catch up' over the course of at least 20 minutes

He also explained to WEAR-TV:

'We were just trying to have a good time in jail. We're already here, why be miserable?'
Many of his friends and family responded with amusement and words of encouragement on social media.

His friend Ray Strickland wrote, 'And how the f*** are you posting? Lmao,' while another commented, 'Wtf bro what [the] hell you done.'

When Holbrook was pressed about how he had access to the contraband, he simply told WSAZ the cell phone was 'within reach'.

He added: 'It just happened...Lightning strikes trees, comets fall to earth, a guy in jail gets a cell phone sometimes. That's just the way this works.'

The spokesperson released a statement saying:

'The Western Regional Jail and Correctional Facility authorities requires pat-downs of all individuals when they enter its custody as part of the agency's zero tolerance police against contraband.

'The incident in question remains under investigation. The device at issue was confiscated before the inmates entered the Western Regional Jail.'
