EFCC Clears CCT Chairman, Umar Of N10M Bribery

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has cleared the chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, Justice Danladi Umar, of culpability in the N10 million bribery allegation levelled against him.

The clearance was conveyed to Mr. Umar in a letter signed by the Secretary of the Commission, Emmanuel Adegboyega Aremo.

Mr. Umar has been investigated by the Anti-graft agency over allegation that he demanded N10 million bribe from a retired Customs Officer, Rasheed Owolabi.

The EFCC says that after investigating the case for some time, it became clear that the whole allegation bordered in the realm of mere suspicion and would be difficult to charge the CCT judge to court based on the allegation.
