(Viral Video) Watch the moment American Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps race against a big SHARK

Olympian Michael Phelps has proved once and for all that mankind can’t out-swim sharks, after coming second in a race against a virtual Great White.

But the affair was a close call, as Phelps, who is the most decorated Olympian ever, finished just two-seconds behind a simulated version of the deadly beast.

The swimmer took part in the competition, dubbed “Phelps v Shark: Great Gold v Great White”, as part of Discovery Channel’s Shark Week.

TV chiefs used performance data to find out how quickly the predator could cover 100 metres.

And they then superimposed an image of the shark on footage of Phelps swimming in the ocean.

Most thought the Olympian, who can swim at around 6mph, didn’t stand a chance against the simulated shark’s top speed of 25 mph.

However, he had his team level out the playing field between the two, designing him a shark skin-like wetsuit and a Lunocet swimfin mimicking a shark’s tail.

He told USA Today that with the fin, he estimates he reached speeds of “8 to 10, maybe 12.

But for me, it actually gives me more of an appreciation for how fast (sharks) move through the water, especially at their size.”

Even with the extra help, the shark was just too fast for the 32-year-old, who finished the 100m stretch in 38.1 seconds to the Great White’s 36.1 seconds.

Phelps started off out-swimming the shark, but was pipped to the post at the very end of the race, which took place off the coast of Cape Town, South Africa and was aired on the Discovery Channel.

Speaking to USA Today before the race, Phelps said: “Shark Week was always during major competition, so between (pool) sessions, I was watching stuff about sharks and trying to learn more,

“That’s where my biggest nerdy side comes out, because I’m so infatuated with water and infatuated with sharks.”

11 Burnt To Death As Bus Collides With Fuel Tanker

It was a sorry sight along Ife-Ibadan Expressway on Sunday as 11 persons, including children, were burnt to death after their 18-seater bus collided with a fuel tanker.

The tragedy which happened around 11am was said to have occurred as the diesel-laden tanker was  trying to drive past the roundabout when the passenger bus, reportedly rammed into it from behind.

The bus immediately went up in flames as passengers who had lost consciousnesses due to the way the bus rammed into the tanker, were suddenly trapped inside.

9 passengers reportedly died on the spot, while some others who were rescued, eventually died.

One victim was said to be in a critical condition at the Seventh Day Adventist Hospital in Ile Ife.

One of the residents of Ile Ife, who was at the scene of the crash, told our correspondent that the Nissan Urvan bus was also loaded with vehicle spare parts scrap metal, which made it difficult for the passengers to escape from the burning vehicle.

The resident, who identified himself as Macdonald Oladipupo, said, “The accident happened opposite Moremi Estate this morning (Sunday). The tanker was making a U-turn, while the bus that was coming from Ore rammed into it.

“Nine of the passengers inside the bus died. A rescue team from the Seventh Day Adventist Hospital came to rescue others. I learnt that some of them later died.”

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Osun State, Mr. Anthony Oko, confirmed the accident to our correspondent on the telephone.

He said, “No fewer than 11 persons died. A tanker was said to be making a U-turn and a bus coming from Ore rammed into it. The bus caught fire and 11 of the passengers, including the driver died.

“The bus had 12 passengers and the remaining passenger of the bus is in danger list at a hospital. I just pray he survives, but his condition is very bad.

“He suffered third degree burns, but nothing happened to the tanker driver. He ran away immediately after the accident.”

Oko said the driver would be arrested with the help of the police.

He appealed to drivers to always obey road signs and to make sure that their vehicles were in good condition before putting them on the road.

(PHOTOS/VIDEO)Pastor orders single youths to choose each other for marriage in the church

Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin of Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry, invited single men and women to the altar and ordered them to start choosing whoever they like for marriage during a service in his church in Warri, Delta state.

During the prophetic service, he summoned a lady and asked if she was married. The lady replied no, and the pastor asked her when she likes to get married.

The clergyman then ordered her to choose any man she likes in the auditorium.

The woman is then seen searching through the congregation to see a man of her choice.

After the fruitless effort by the lady, the man of God concluded that there was a demonic mark upon her preventing her prospective husband from locating her. The pastor asked the lady:

“Chop and go. How many men don chop you?”

The matchmaking then metamorphosed to another level as the pastor eventually summoned all single men to file out and spinsters to line up behind the men of their choice.

“If anybody wants to marry anyone here come and touch the person – any person you like.
“We cannot allow women to be like this forever. I want to marry for these people.
“Look at your back. I give you people from now till month ending to screen your wives. Nobody should go and meet for night o,” the man of God said.

Pastor Fufeyin promised to sponsor the mass wedding of the would-be couples.

Bobrisky disgraced by Texas based hairstylist ,says his hair is ''dirty, short, dandruff infested

Bobrisky has been disgraced by a  Houston, Texas based hairstylist ,@Lexclusive on Instagram who accused the cross-dresser of not paying for her services after she braided his hair which she called "dirty" and "dandruff infested" short hair. She took to Snapchat to call him out ,writing

"I had to take his hair off and the glue used for his frontal looked like something that had been there for six months. His scalp was dirty. His head and ears are disgusting. I took his hair hair off and I was just disgusted taking off the rat's nest on his head. His hair is short. After taking out the braids, he said he wanted to wash his hair for 20 mins but comes back 3 hours later.

His hair is still dirty and the glue was all over and my brother had to eventually go and buy alcohol from the closet store. Keep in mind that I bought alcohol, the hair and beads that that man put on his head and he never paid me back for any of those things.
"After I slaved on his scalp trying to remove the glue, I start braiding and his dandruff made the braids look shitty. Words can't explain how dirty his scalp was. He was screaming while I was trying to even braid his hair, saying it's hurting him. He doesn't look the same in person. It's not as white as his pictures, his skin is even and red all over. His beard is protruding and it looks like he tried to shave over and over and it's bloody, bumpy. I spent six hours because doing his hair is like doing the hair of a child.

"After staying there waiting and taking out his rat's nest, he was basically yapping about how people do things for free because he used to promote. I was like that wasn't our agreement. Bobrisky is very disrespectful, dramatic, selfish and conceited as fuck. This man is fooling you all, he's already ugly on Snapchat but in person, bruh it's crazy. His attitude is disgusting. At the end of the day, I have to say be careful because [people do scams and this man scammed the fuck out of him. And don't use bleaching cream, ever."

I Have A Track Record, Let Hushpuppi Produce His - Phyno

Few weeks back, social media was treated to a war of words between rapper Phyno and social media celebrity Hushpuppi, as both came at each other in no nice way.

Phyno, who lambasted Hushpuppi, saying he has no clear means of livelihood yet goes online to show off his wealth  again commented on the issue during an interview with Sunday Scoop.

In his words:

“It is very childish to brag about what I have. I care more about touching lives in positive ways. It is not really about how much you have in your bank account but how many people’s lives you have made better. The good thing is that I have a track record and people know what I do. So it doesn’t really make sense for me to be exchanging words with someone who just came from nowhere and has no credibility whatsoever.”

On how his career:

“I am happy for how far I have come. My father never wanted me to become an artiste because he felt it wasn’t a good profession. But I decided to stick to my guns and I have proved that one can also have a good life with music. Now, people call on me to mentor their children and that couldn’t have happened years ago. Nigerian music has gone global and the future looks even brighter.”

Former Brazil president sentenced to 10 years in prison for corruption

Former Brazilian leader Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, was convicted on corruption charges on Wednesday and sentenced to nearly 10 years in prison.

The ruling marked a stunning fall for Lula, one of the country's most popular politicians and a top contender to win next year's presidential election.

He faces four more corruption trials and will remain free on appeal.

Judge Sergio Moro found Lula, 71, guilty of accepting 3.7 million reais ($1.2 million) worth of bribes from engineering firm OAS SA, the amount of money prosecutors said the company spent refurbishing a beach apartment for Lula in return for his help winning contracts with state oil company Petroleo Brasileiro (PETR4.SA).

Federal prosecutors have accused Lula, Brazil's first working-class president from 2003 to 2011, of masterminding a long-running corruption scheme that was uncovered in a probe into kickbacks around Petrobras.

Lula's legal team said in an emailed statement that he was innocent and they would appeal.
"For over three years, Lula has been subject to a politically motivated investigation," they wrote. "No credible evidence of guilt has been produced, and overwhelming proof of his innocence blatantly ignored."

The verdict represented the highest-profile conviction in Brazil.

Say the truth or I will release 11 damaging photos on Buhari's health- Ekiti state Gov Ayo Fayose tells FG

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has dismissed Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo''s statement that ailing recuperating President Muhammadu Buhari is hale and hearty after a visit to the latter in the United Kingdom.

Addressing newsmen in Abuja yesterday, Fayose said

“I’m not going to prove that (the President is recuperating) to Nigerians. It is him (Osinbajo) who said he saw the President that needs to prove to Nigerians. I have made the allegations and I have said it expressly that we are in the age of technology. How do we have an Acting President of a nation that has visited his boss that cannot show evidence of the meeting? The picture they are posting on social media are pictures taken long time. You recall that I said this again at Transcorp Hilton in 2015. We are talking about President of 170million people. The Acting President visiting the President that has left this country for about 60 days or more cannot show evidence of the meeting. It shows the President is in critical condition,” he told journalists.

“Again, if they are not careful, I will release some pictures. This will in turn create so many serious problems for this country. And I’m telling you again that I don’t need to prove anything to Nigerians because they are saying the President is well. He’s hale and hearty. He has refused to come home in about 70 days. The office of the President and office of the government are offices that encourage the office holders to perform. A President that has spent so much time outside the country in a year shows clearly that this sickness is major. If they go further and try to continue to deceive Nigerians, I will release about 11 damaging pictures anytime from now on the President’s health,” he added.

Nigerian celebrities to declare their assets and income as Federal Government plans 5-year jail term for celebrities who evade taxes

The federal government has fine-tuned plans to punish and possibly jail entertainers who evade taxes after the nine-month grace period set out by the recently launched voluntary asset and income declaration scheme (VAIDS).

TheCable learnt that for 15 months, the federal government via various agencies and departments, to include the private sector, has been gathering information on tax compliance of many celebrities and high net worth individuals in the country.

“Highly qualified” agents of the federal ministry of finance have worked with the banks, Nigeria Financial Intelligent Unit (NFIU), bureau de change (BDCs), Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), to monitor the degree of tax compliance of many celebrities and high net worth individuals.

The government has also reviewed land ownership, ownership of exotic cars, yatchs, private jets and other luxurious properties to understand the earnings and assets of many of these persons, relative to their taxes.

Following massive revelations, the government launched VAIDS, a scheme that allows these celebrities and other Nigerians to declare their assets and income, and pay necessary taxes without interest, penalty or investigation.

TheCable understands that the scheme, which will run for nine months, is a grace period for the celebrities to make amends or face the full wrath of the law, which could include jail term of up to five years.

For celebrities with houses in exotic locations worth millions of naira, and a tax record not consistent with the value of the property, the goverment advises that such celebrities “complete form VA1” and clarify sources of income for the house and pay necessary taxes within July 1, 2017 and March 31, 2018.

Celebrities who do not take advantage of the scheme risk “up to five-year imprisonment, get severe extra penalties: up to 100% of the outstanding tax due, a compound interest at 21% per annum, and forfeiture of such assets”.

Buhari’s wife Aisha leaves for UK again to see the President

Wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, again, on Sunday, left Nigeria for London in the United Kingdom, to visit her husband, Muhammadu Buhari, who has been receiving medical attention in the British capital since May 7, Punch reports.

She will however have a stopover in Addis Abba, Ethiopia, before continuing her journey to London on Tuesday.

This marks the second time Mrs. Buhari would be visiting her ailing husband since he embarked on his second medical vacation of the year close to 60 days ago.

According to a statement by the Director of Information to the Wife of the President, Suleiman Haruna, on Sunday, the President’s wife would use the opportunity of her latest visit to convey the best wishes of Nigerians and their prayers to her husband.

Mrs. Buhari’s stopover in Addis Abba will afford her the opportunity to attend a meeting of the Organisation of African First Ladies against HIV/AIDS which will hold on Monday (today).

The statement read, “Wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, left for London, the United Kingdom, on Sunday, July 2, 2017, to visit her husband who is on medical vacation.

“She will convey to the President the best wishes of Nigerians and their fervent prayers for his quick recovery.

“She is expected to have a stopover at Addis Ababa, to make a symbolic appearance at the meeting of the Organisation of African First Ladies against HIV/AIDS on Monday, July 3, 2017.

“She will join other members to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the organisation, and use the opportunity to restate the voting rights of Nigeria in the upcoming elections of the organisation.

“She will continue her journey to the United Kingdom on Tuesday, July 4, 2017.”

Mrs. Buhari had, on May 30, travelled to London to join her husband, three weeks after he embarked on his latest medical vacation.

She returned to the country in the early hours of June 6 after spending one week in London.

She had said the President would soon return to join Nigerians as, according to her, he was recuperating fast.

Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress, on Sunday, said it had no immediate plans to send any delegation to visit Buhari in London.

The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, said this while responding to inquiries from The PUNCH on the subject in a telephone interview.

He explained that the party was currently pre-occupied with keeping the nation running in line with the President’s agenda than with “photo-opportunities.”

Abdullahi added, “We never sent a delegation to him before. Why should we send a delegation to him now, to achieve what?

“What we are doing as a party is to keep the country running while he is away. What will our going there do for him? Are we doctors or nurses?”

Presidency explains why presidential jet remains idle with Buhari in London

President Buhari
The Presidency, has finally explained why the Presidential Aircraft, NAF 001, remains idle in London where Pres. Buhari is currently receiving medical attention.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, reacting to reports over an outrageous fee allegedly being paid for parking the aircraft in London since May 10.

He said, “The Presidency is constrained to decry criticisms, mostly on social media, on the retention in London of the Presidential Aircraft, NAF 001 as mostly informed by lack of understanding of protocol around foreign trips by Heads of State all over the world.
It is important to state that for reasons of protocol, national security, diplomacy and prestige, there is no world leader who travels abroad and is left without plans for immediate return or possible evacuation.
This is a standard operating procedure. We have also read claims about outrageous fees allegedly paid by Nigeria. The published amounts are totally untrue. Aircraft conveying Heads of State all over the world usually enjoy waivers even where payments for parking are differentiated by aircraft categories.
We have been assured that where the waiver is not granted, payment will not exceed £1,000, which is a quarter of the amount being peddled.
All past Heads of this country have had this privilege, and the part that surprises the most is that leaders who in the past travelled with three Nigerian aircraft did not suffer this trenchant criticism.
We appeal to Nigerians to ignore opposition campaign aimed at derailing this administration’s big plans for the country. This is a government that is constructing the 2nd Niger Bridge, the Mambila Power Plant, the East-West and the North-South standard gauge railway lines.
We are a government that has saved this country an annual loss of N2 trillion from fraudulent petroleum subsidy schemes by influential citizens and their children and rid the public service of about 50,000 ghost workers. The Buhari administration certainly deserves a chance."

Court sentences 8-week-old-baby to death

A European Human Rights Court has given its verdict on a case of human rights that will compel a couple to allow their sick baby to die.

The parents of the baby Chris Gard and Connie Yates have been in a long legal battle to save their baby who is suffering from a serious genetic illness. The baby is currently on life support while treatment options were being considered.

At 8 weeks old, Charlie was diagnosed with mitochondrial DNA depletion syndrome and is considered to be only one of 16 babies worldwide with this disease. His condition is progressive and currently incurable and eventually fatal.

Meanwhile, doctors are developing treatments for the various mitochondrial conditions, including the nucleoside treatment Charlie’s parents have been fighting for. Charlie’s parents prayed the court to determine if they, as parents, have the right to continue to provide medical treatments for their son or if he should be allowed to die.

The parents of the 10-months old baby wants the court to let them use a potentially life-saving drug from the U.S. on their son. They believed that the drug (which is still experimental), would help their son’s genetic condition rather than allow him to die as doctors have recommended.

However a June 27 ruling of the court held that the application by the parents was ‘inadmissible’. The court said that the baby was being exposed to continued pain, suffering and distress in pursuit of treatments that were unsure. It added that any additional treatment would continue to cause harm to the baby stressing that its ruling is “Final”.

“The EHRC also removed the interim measure to keep Charlie’s life support in place.

A spokesman for Great Ormond Street Hospital, where Charlie has been treated since October, has told the parents that there is “no rush” to remove Charlie’s life support. The spokesman said that any future treatment will involve careful planning and discussion.”

The hospital has said that though there is a deadline in place for Charlie, they wouldn’t have to follow it exactly. The discussion and planning will take some days to work out. Meanwhile, Charlie’s parents have so far raised over £1.3 million through a GoFundMe account for his treatment.

With the ruling of the court, the parents are unsure what they want to do with the money. They plan to donate some to the U.S. hospital willing to treat Charlie, while the rest will be put into a charity for other children with similar mitochondrial conditions

“so that nobody else ever has to go through what we have.” She said, “We’d like to save other babies and children because these medications have been proven to work and we honestly have so much belief in them.”
