China bans Islamic names from their country

Authorities in western China are prohibiting parents from naming their children Islamic names in the latest effort to dilute the influence of religion on life in the ethnic Uighur minority heartland.

Fox News reports “Muhammad,” ”Jihad” and “Islam” are among at least 29 names now banned in the heavily Muslim region, according to a list distributed by overseas Uighur activists.

Russian supreme court bans Jehovah's Witnesses as extremist group

Russia's Supreme Court ruled on Thursday that Jehovah's Witnesses was an "extremist" organisation and must hand over all its property to the state, Russian news agencies reported.

Interfax news agency quoted Sergei Cherepanov, a Jehovah's Witnesses representative, as saying that the group will appeal the decision in the European Court of Human Rights

Former Pope, Benedict XVI, celebrates 90th birthday with some beer (Photos)


Benedict XVI, who resigned as pontiff in 2013, has celebrated his 90th birthday with a mug of beer and the company of visitors from his native Bavaria in Germany.

Photos by the Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Romano of the celebration showed Benedict sipping a beer.

His brother, Monsignor Georg Ratzinger, also joined the party and enjoyed a beer.

Emir Sanusi is an enemy of Islam, a hypocrite who rides in Rolls Royce -Zamfara state Gov. Yari

The Governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari, has further blasted the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi, for criticising his response to the outbreak of meningitis.

In a statement released on Saturday through his his special adviser on communication, Ibrahim Dosara, the Governor lambasted Sanusi saying that "the Emir, and all he wants to do is ride a Rolls Royce in the face of palpable poverty; he shouldn’t engage in throwing accusations at others."

Yari called the Emir a hypocrite and an enemy of Islam as he advised him to “practise what he preaches” or “keep his peace”.

Huge crowd welcome Efe and Bisola at airport as Big Brother Naija stars arrive Nigeria (Photos and video)

On Monday night,Big Brother Naija winner Efe Ejeba and first runner-up, Bisola Aiyeola were mobbed by fans who gave them a rousing welcome after they arrived the Arrival Wing of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.

Eyewitnesses said that Bisola and Efe couldn't get to meet the fans that came to the airport to welcome them as the crowd was overwhelming.

At a point, due to the crowd, Efe and Bisola had to be bodyguarded by security officials at the airport, as they were ushered into the waiting convoy.

Efe, who emerged winner of the show at Sunday’s finale won N25m and a brand new Kia Sorento Sport Utility Vehicle.

Russia moves to completely ban Jehovah's Witnesses

Russia's Supreme Court has begun hearing a government request to outlaw the Jehovah's Witnesses and declare it an extremist organisation.

The justice ministry has already placed its headquarters near St Petersburg on a list of extremist groups.
An estimated eight million people worldwide are part of the Christian-based movement, best known for going door to door looking for new converts.

Federal Government Warns Nigerians About ISIS New Recruitment Method
