‘Be ready to forfeit your N100Million bail bond’ -Judge tells Abaribe over Nnamdi Kanu

Following Nnamdi Kanu’s absence in court today and filing of motion by Senator Abaribe seeking to be discharged as Nnamdi Kanu’s surety, the judge reportedly gave Sen. Abaribe’s Lawyer, Mr. Ogechi Ogunna three options.

One of the options was for Abaribe to produce the defendant in court and then apply to be discharged as a surety.

The other option the judge gave was for Abaribe to be ready to forfeit his N100m bail bond. The third option ‎was to ask to be given time to produce the defendant.

But Ogunna replied saying “he (Abaribe) is not in a position to do any of these.” Punch reports that the judge insisted tha‎t Abaribe must opt for one of the three options. Sex allegations & corruption: Senate sets up 8 man panel to investigate Police Inspector General

The Senate has set up an eight-man ad hoc committee to investigate allegations of corruption brought against the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, by Senator Isah Misau (APC-Bauchi).

The Senate also mandated its Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions to investigate Police allegations against Senator Misau, and present its findings to the House.

The Nigeria Police Force had alleged that Misau did not follow due process when he retired from the Force.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Senate’s resolution followed a Point of Order by Senator Misau, who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Navy.

Misau had told his colleagues that he had been having a running battle with the IGP over the level of corruption in the NPF.

The senator said he deemed it necessary to bring the matter before the Senate because it had been in public domain for “some weeks now.”

He accused the IGP of blackmailing him because he dared to talk about the level of corruption in the Force.

“I am a retired Police officer and served for 10 years; my father served the Force for 34 years. In fact, he joined the Police before I was born.

“So, when I speak about the Police, I know what I am saying. When I speak about the Police, I speak with authority.

“I am concerned about what is happening in the Police in terms of bribery; there is a need for something urgent to be done to salvage the image of the institution.

“Before raising alarm on the irregularities in the institution, I called three serving officers and they confirmed to me that people pay more than N500,000 to get promoted.

“I also have other evidences that I am ready to release for investigation,’’ he said.

The lawmaker further alleged that the Police was generating money from companies where officers were deployed to serve.

He lamented that while most Nigerians were without security protection, the Force had deployed a large number of officers to guard companies and a few individuals.

“This is an open secret; it is obvious that even people with questionable character have Police protection and have been blaring sirens all over the place.

“One Police officer is supposed to serve 400 people, but in Nigeria, it is one Police officer to 800 people, while one private marketer has more than 30 policemen.

“A situation like that only depletes the number of Police personnel available to protect the ordinary citizens.

“We have excellent Police officers who are now demoralised because promotion is no longer based on merit and years of service.

“Another thing I found out is that there is illegal diversion of funds. Under the 2016 budget, there was a line item for purchase of Armoured Personnel Carrier, but instead of the APCs, luxury cars were purchased without virement,’’ Misau alleged.

On allegations that he left the NPF without due process, Misau said that he followed due process before retiring.

In his remarks, the President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki, said in view of the weighty allegations brought against the Police, the Senate would not hesitate to investigate the matter.

“We have listened to him and he has raised a number of issues which we can’t sweep under the carpet.

“We have to reform our institutions and deal with allegations of corruption so as to cleanse them.

“The ad hoc committee will deal with the area of allegation of corruption, while the Committee on Ethics and Privileges will deal with the allegation of the Police against Misau,’’ he explained.

NAN reports that the Deputy Chief Whip, Sen. Francis Alimikhena, is the Chairman of the committee; while other members include senators Joshua Lidani (PDP-Gombe), Binta Masi (APC-Adamawa) and Duro Faseyi (PDP-Ekiti).

Others include senators Nelson Effiong (APC-Akwa Ibom); Obinna Ogba (PDP-Ebonyi); Abdul-Aziz Nyako (APC-Adamawa) and Suleiman Hunkuyi (APC-Kaduna).(NAN)

“I am a great singer, multi-instrumentalist and a great dancer” -Peter Okoye of Psquare brags

Just after he bragged about being the only successful and established upcoming artiste, Psquare’s Peter Okoye is at again, and this time, he is bragging about being a great singer, multi-instrumentalist and a great dancer.

Here’s what he listed about himself;

“Things that you don’t know about me! Don’t be deceived by what they told y’all. I AM! and I repeat! I AM A GREAT SINGER and A Multi-instrumentalist and A Great Dancer! Don’t be Deceived! One love?? #DontJudgeMe #TimeWillTell ????????? #KoolestDude #MrP#AirCleared #coolitdown #PclassicRecords#ChangeIsConstant”

You recall, during his bare it all interview last year, Psquare Peter Okoye revealed he was betrayed by his twin brother Paul when he realised Paul had told the Mavins crew that he, Peter, doesn’t sing or write songs.

‘‘I went to the Mavin studio to meet Tiwa. When I got there, she asked for the CD and I told her Paul didn’t give me any CD, so I called him again and gave the phone to Tiwa and [he] told her on phone that the CD is at Omole, so I got into the studio, recorded my verse and when I finished, everybody was clapping. I was surprised to realize that Paul had [told] them that I don’t sing or write songs.’

I felt really bad and betrayed, but I covered up for him. I jokingly asked Teebillz if they gave him Red Label and he said yes, so I was like you guys caused it, and we laughed over it.

So when my assistant went to pick up the CD, Paul and Jude started shouting at him to ‘ask Peter what is he doing at the Mavin studio? He knows how we work.’

The next day, I went to Paul and told him how I felt when I heard what he said. Only for Jude to say that he made Paul the lead singer of P-Square 8 years ago! A leader leads, he doesn’t destroy.’

LIB exclusively confirmed that Peter has sent a termination letter to their lawyer Festus Keyamo (SAN), demanding for a termination of the agreement between Psquare.

Here’s their report;

“LIB can now exclusively confirm that Peter has sent a termination letter to their lawyer Festus Keyamo (SAN), demanding for a termination of the agreement between Psquare.

In the letter, he defends his decision by making some serious allegations against his twin Paul and older brother/group manager Jude.

According to Peter, Paul is no longer willing to co-operate with him, even going as far as cancelling their planned US tour this year without informing him, and he (Peter) has exhausted all options to make it work.

He also accused Paul of slandering his wife and children with lies on social media, and alleged that they’ve now been receiving threatening messages.

Peter further accused his older brother Jude of once threatening to kill him and shoot his wife Lola. This allegedly happened in the presence of Paul and former first lady of Cross River state Mrs Imoke. Jude allegedly also threatened to bring a coffin for him (Peter) if he ever comes near his house.

Peter insists that he has had enough of the drama and wants out of the Psqaure group and contract. The singer who now refers to himself as Mr. P, stated that he loves his brothers and their families, and he wishes them the very best in their careers. However he cannot betray his wife and kids as they are very important to him.”

Hausa's against restructuring of Nigeria are just lazy - Atiku Abubakar

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has described Northerners against the restructuring of Nigeria as lazy folks.

According to Atiku,  Igbos who fought the civil war, which led to the destruction of lives and properties in the South East region, still managed to pick themselves up and reconstruct, this however can not be said for the Hausa's who till date still have mud houses in the communities.

Speaking to a coalition of youth groups under the aegis of Play Forum in Abuja over the weekend Atiku said:

“I would not have gone to school if I were born today. My parents were so poor they couldn’t afford to send me to school. I was born during the era education was free, food was free for me, I was sponsored from primary school to the university. There was even a job waiting for me before I graduated. Yet, there was no oil boom then. I am certainly not a product of oil boom Nigeria. So, I don’t know what those who are against restructuring are afraid of. Those afraid must be lazy. We fought the civil war with the Igbo. Today, the Igbo have been completely rebuilt, but we still find mud houses in the north. Is it the fault of the easterners that the north is like that? I think that what is most important is the devolution of powers and resources with the various governments whether states or regions. How do the people hold those in power accountable for the resources handed over to them? Left for me, I will ask every part of this country to take charge of its resources while the federal government should handle defense, foreign affairs and immigration among others in the exclusive list. It should not be complicated to start with all the recurrent items in the constitution. The president can dialogue with the governors or the national assembly for states to take charge of the roads, hospitals, schools and such other items in the concurrent List while the federal government will continue with items on the exclusive list2 he said

American football stars kneel during national anthem to protest against Donald Trump (Photos)

American football stars took a knee in defiance of Donald Trump at Wembley Stadium after he said sportsmen who ‘disrespect America’ should be ‘fired’.

Players from both Jacksonville Jaguars and the Baltimore Ravens dropped to their knees as the national anthem was played prior to the match in London.

Now similar protests have erupted across the US with at least 100 players either kneeling or sitting during the national anthem.
No players were kneeling during the playing of ‘God Save The Queen’ at Wembley, which followed the Star Spangled Banner.

They did so after President Trump stoked tensions by saying NFL players who protested during the national anthem should be sacked by their team.

At a rally on Friday night the president said: ‘Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a bi*ch off the field right now… he is fired.’

Players from both Jacksonville Jaguars and the Baltimore Ravens defied him on Sunday by dropping to their knees as the national anthem was played prior to the match in London, and other players in the US have taken the same route by either kneeling or sitting, locking arms in solidarity, or staying in their locker rooms during the national anthem.

It went from just 10 players kneeling during national anthem to 200 players kneeling or locking arms after in solidarity Trump asked for the firing of NFL players for protesting.

Here’s a list of how NFL teams have protested against Trump’s statement.

Pittsburgh Steelers: Stayed in their locker room until after the anthem.

Baltimore Ravens & Jacksonville Jaguars: Two dozen players took a knee, while remaining players and Jaguars owner Shad Khan remained locked arm-in-arm.

New Orleans Saints: More than a dozen players sat during the anthem.

Denver Broncos: More than half the team knelt during the anthem

Buffalo Bills: A handful of players either sat or knelt.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Mike Evans and DeSean Jackson knelt with the rest of the team locking arms.

Minnesota Vikings: The team locked arms during the anthem.

New England Patriots: At least 20 Patriots players were spotted kneeling as Tom Brady linked arms with his teammates.

Miami Dolphins: Players linked arms as a team, including owner Stephen Ross. Four players also took a knee. Several players also wore ‘#ImWithKap’ T-shirts during warm-ups.

Philadelphia Eagles: Players locked arms with servicemen. Two players also raised their fists.

Atlanta Falcons: The entire team locked arms as two players took a knee.

Cleveland Browns: At least 20 players took a knee and all teammembers linked arms.

Chicago Bears: The Bears did not kneel but many did link arms.

Indianapolis Colts: Several players took a knee while the majority linked arms.

Houston Texans: Players linked arms alongside each other.

New York Jets: The players all linked arms.

Buffalo Bills: Several players knelt for the anthem, while others stood behind them with their hands on their shoulders.

Detroit Lions: Eight players took a knee in protest. The anthem singer took a knee after singing and raised his fist.

New York Giants: They linked arms but for the first time had players kneel during the anthem.
